How to use this Pokemon coverage calculator

1. Start with the attacks

Select the type of each move or attacking option you want to compare. If you are checking one Pokemon, begin with its likely STAB types and add the coverage moves you are considering.

2. Keep the list realistic

One to three types gives a focused answer. You can select up to six for a team-wide planning pass, but selecting every type can hide the practical tradeoff between coverage and a usable moveset.

3. Read the strongest option

Each row chooses the highest standard multiplier among your selected types. A 2x row is a super-effective target; a 1x row is neutral at best; a value below 1x means the selected attacks are all resisted or ineffective.

4. Fix the gaps

Look for important types marked neutral or resisted. Add a move type only when it improves a real gap and fits the Pokemon, role, game rules, and team plan you are using.

What a Pokemon Move Coverage Calculator Measures

A Pokemon move coverage calculator answers an offensive question: “Which defending types can my selected attacks hit well?” It is different from a Pokemon weakness calculator, which answers the defensive question: “Which attacking types threaten this Pokemon or team?” Keeping those two directions separate prevents a common mistake when reading a type chart.

This tool checks the standard modern main-series type relationships for all 18 types. For each defending type, it compares every selected attacking type and keeps the strongest result. For example, with Fire, Water, and Electric selected, Grass has a 2x option from Fire even though Water and Electric are not super effective. Dragon has no super-effective option in that sample: Fire, Water, and Electric are each resisted at 0.5x.

Important distinction: “Covered” here means the type chart offers a super-effective option. It does not promise a knockout, a legal move, a high damage roll, or a good competitive set.

Use the result in two passes. First, scan the super-effective rows to see whether your planned attacks reach the targets you expect. Then scan the resisted, neutral, and no-effect rows for problems that a single coverage move could solve. A short list of realistic attacks is more useful than selecting every possible type, because the calculator is meant to explain a moveset or team plan you could actually use.

Pokemon team coverage calculator: finding practical gaps

For a Pokemon team coverage check, use the tool as a quick map of offensive options rather than as a complete team builder. Start with the attacks your six Pokemon can realistically learn, then compare the union of their attacking types. A team may show excellent chart coverage while still struggling if the moves are slow, inaccurate, unavailable in the chosen game, or concentrated on one fragile member.

The maximum of six selected types is a boundary that keeps the interaction useful for team planning. Strong coverage

Many rows reach 2x, and the covered types are supported by moves your team can reasonably use.

Neutral patch

A 1x row is playable but gives no type advantage. Check speed, power, accuracy, and role before adding a move just for it.

Resisted gap

A 0.5x or 0x row means every selected attack is a poor answer on the type chart. Look for a complementary type.
