Pokemon Weakness Calculator for Teams and Type Matchups

Check defensive weaknesses, resistances, and immunities for one Pokemon, a custom dual type, or a full six Pokemon team. The calculator also gives a basic type coverage check and runs in your browser using the same local Pokemon data that powers Favorite Pokemon Picker.

Move Type Coverage Quick Check

Weakness checks are defensive. Coverage checks are offensive: they ask which defending types your chosen move types can hit super effectively. Use this small Pokemon type coverage calculator as a planning helper after you know what your team is weak to.

How to Use the Pokemon Weakness Calculator

1. Start with a Pokemon or type pair

Search a Pokemon name to load its current type labels from the site database, or use the Type 1 and Type 2 selectors for a custom matchup such as Fire/Flying, Steel/Fairy, or Water/Ground.

2. Read the multiplier groups

A 2x or 4x row is a weakness. A 0.5x or 0.25x row is a resistance. A 0x row is an immunity. Neutral 1x rows are still shown so you can scan the full type chart.

3. Check the full team

Switch to Team Weakness mode and add up to six Pokemon. Shared weaknesses are the most important rows because they show which attack types pressure multiple team members at once.

Single Pokemon vs Team Weakness Results

A single Pokemon weakness calculator is best when you need a quick type chart answer: for example, what hits Charizard, Garchomp, Gengar, Tinkaton, or Swampert super effectively. A Pokemon team weakness calculator is different because it counts the whole group. One Pokemon being weak to Ice may be fine; four team members being weak to Ice is a team-building warning. For a faster lookup, use the Pokemon Type Chart; use this calculator when the species, dual type, or team changes the answer.

Task Best Mode What to Watch
Check a Pokemon before adding it to favorites Single Pokemon Look for 4x weaknesses and useful immunities.
Review a six Pokemon party Team Weakness Rows where several members share the same weakness.
Compare custom dual types Single Pokemon with custom types Type combinations that turn a weakness into neutral damage or immunity.
Plan attacking move types Move Type Coverage Defending types that your selected moves cannot hit super effectively.

Limitations and Accuracy Notes

This page is intentionally fast and type-focused. It does not replace a competitive damage calculator or a full battle simulator. The result is best for favorite teams, casual playthrough planning, monotype ideas, Nuzlocke-style checks, and spotting obvious type holes before you export a team from the Pokemon Team Picker. It answers standard type-matchup questions, not game-specific move, ability, item, or Tera interactions.

How to Read Team Weakness Results

The team view is most useful as a coverage audit, not as a single score. Start with the attack types that show several weak team members, then check whether another member resists or is immune to that same type. A team with one Electric weakness and two Ground immunities tells a different story from a team where four members are weak to Ice and nobody resists it.

Find shared pressure

Rows with multiple weak members deserve attention first. They can reveal a repeated Fire, Ice, Rock, or Fairy problem before you commit to a six-Pokemon party.

Check the multiplier size

A 2x weakness is common, while a 4x weakness usually comes from a dual-type combination. Compare the result with resistances and immunities before replacing a favorite.

Use coverage as a second pass

After the defensive check, select a few attacking move types in the coverage helper. This shows whether your planned moves can pressure the types that threaten the team.

Example: a Water/Flying combination is especially vulnerable to Electric attacks, while a Ground/Fairy custom matchup trades different weaknesses for immunities and resistances. The calculator displays the standard type chart result for the selected types; it does not infer abilities, held items, or a specific game's battle rules.

Common Pokemon Type Weakness Examples

Use these examples to understand what the calculator is showing before you load your own Pokemon. A single type gives a quick reference answer, while a dual type can multiply a weakness, turn it neutral, or create an immunity. The result table always shows all 18 attacking types so you can compare the complete matchup instead of relying on one remembered chart entry.

Defending input What to look for How to use the result
Water Electric and Grass are super effective. Use the single-type answer for a fast defensive check.
Fire/Flying Rock can become a 4x weakness because both types are vulnerable. Check the multiplier before adding the Pokemon to a team.
Ground/Fairy Water, Grass, Ice, and Steel are weaknesses; Electric is immune. Use custom dual types when a species is not in the quick search.
Six-Pokemon team Rows count how many members are weak, resistant, or immune. Prioritize repeated weaknesses, then review move coverage.

These are standard type-effectiveness examples, not damage predictions. A real battle can change the outcome through abilities such as Levitate or Thick Fat, held items, weather, move effects, Tera types, critical hits, or game-specific rules. That is why the tool labels its result as a type matchup check and keeps the explanation separate from a full damage calculator. For a team-building workflow, check one or two candidate members in single mode, add the final six in Team Weakness mode, then use the coverage helper to see whether your planned attacks can answer the team's most common threats.

FAQ

What does this Pokemon Weakness Calculator check?

It checks defensive type matchups for a selected Pokemon, a custom type pair, or a six Pokemon team. The output groups weaknesses, resistances, immunities, and neutral damage for all 18 attacking types.

Can I use this as a Pokemon team weakness calculator?

Yes. Add up to six Pokemon in Team Weakness mode. The result table shows how many team members are weak to, resist, or are immune to each attack type, which makes shared weaknesses easier to spot.

Why do some Pokemon have a 4x weakness?

A 4x weakness happens when both defending types are weak to the same attacking type. For example, many Water/Flying Pokemon take 4x damage from Electric attacks under standard type rules.

Does the calculator include abilities or Tera types?

No. This is a type matchup calculator, not a full battle simulator. Abilities, Tera types, held items, moves, weather, and competitive rule sets can change real battle outcomes.

How is this different from a Pokemon type coverage calculator?

Weakness is defensive: it checks what attacks threaten your Pokemon. Coverage is offensive: it checks what defending types your selected moves can hit well. This page includes a lightweight coverage helper, but the main tool is defensive.

What is the weakness for Water-type Pokemon?

Water is weak to Electric and Grass attacks in the standard chart. It resists Fire, Water, Ice, and Steel. Select a specific dual-type Pokemon when a second type changes the final multiplier.

What is the weakness of Fighting-type Pokemon?

Fighting is weak to Flying, Psychic, and Fairy attacks in the standard chart. Use the single-Pokemon or custom-type mode to check whether a second type adds, removes, or multiplies that weakness.

What is the weakness of Psychic-type Pokemon?

Psychic is weak to Bug, Ghost, and Dark attacks in the standard chart. Select a specific Psychic dual-type Pokemon when you need the combined result.

What are the Fairy-type Pokemon weaknesses?

Fairy is weak to Poison and Steel attacks in the standard chart. A second defending type can add, remove, or multiply those weaknesses.

What are the defensive weaknesses of a Ground/Fairy Pokemon?

A Ground/Fairy custom matchup is weak to Water, Grass, Ice, and Steel attacks, while Ground makes it immune to Electric attacks under the standard chart.

Is this different from the Pokemon Team Picker?

Yes. The Pokemon Team Picker is for choosing and exporting a favorite six Pokemon party. This page is for analyzing the team's type weaknesses after you have candidates.
