How to Use the Pokemon Weakness Calculator

1. Start with a Pokemon or type pair

Search a Pokemon name to load its current type labels from the site database, or use the Type 1 and Type 2 selectors for a custom matchup such as Fire/Flying, Steel/Fairy, or Water/Ground.

2. Read the multiplier groups

A 2x or 4x row is a weakness. A 0.5x or 0.25x row is a resistance. A 0x row is an immunity. Neutral 1x rows are still shown so you can scan the full type chart.

3. Check the full team

Switch to Team Weakness mode and add up to six Pokemon. Shared weaknesses are the most important rows because they show which attack types pressure multiple team members at once.

Single Pokemon vs Team Weakness Results

A single Pokemon weakness calculator is best when you need a quick type chart answer: for example, what hits Charizard, Garchomp, Gengar, Tinkaton, or Swampert super effectively. A Pokemon team weakness calculator is different because it counts the whole group. One Pokemon being weak to Ice may be fine; four team members being weak to Ice is a team-building warning.

Limitations and Accuracy Notes

This page is intentionally fast and type-focused. It does not replace a competitive damage calculator or a full battle simulator. The result is best for favorite teams, casual playthrough planning, monotype ideas, Nuzlocke-style checks, and spotting obvious type holes before you export a team from the Pokemon Team Picker.

FAQ

What does this Pokemon Weakness Calculator check?

It checks defensive type matchups for a selected Pokemon, a custom type pair, or a six Pokemon team. The output groups weaknesses, resistances, immunities, and neutral damage for all 18 attacking types.

Can I use this as a Pokemon team weakness calculator?

Yes. Add up to six Pokemon in Team Weakness mode. The result table shows how many team members are weak to, resist, or are immune to each attack type, which makes shared weaknesses easier to spot.

Why do some Pokemon have a 4x weakness?

A 4x weakness happens when both defending types are weak to the same attacking type. For example, many Water/Flying Pokemon take 4x damage from Electric attacks under standard type rules.

Does the calculator include abilities or Tera types?

No. This is a type matchup calculator, not a full battle simulator. Abilities, Tera types, held items, moves, weather, and competitive rule sets can change real battle outcomes.

How is this different from a Pokemon type coverage calculator?

Weakness is defensive: it checks what attacks threaten your Pokemon. Coverage is offensive: it checks what defending types your selected moves can hit well. This page includes a lightweight coverage helper, but the main tool is defensive.

Is this different from the Pokemon Team Picker?

Yes. The Pokemon Team Picker is for choosing and exporting a favorite six Pokemon party. This page is for analyzing the team's type weaknesses after you have candidates.
